ACCREDITATIONS
University of Saint Mary is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools* as well as the State of Kansas Department of Education and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)**. This accreditation covers initial teacher preparation programs and advanced educator preparation programs.
NCATE is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation to accredit programs for the preparation of teachers and other professional school personnel. The MAT curriculum is held to the same accreditation standards as the on-campus degree programs.

Importance of Regional Accreditation
Regional accreditation is the primary type of institutional accreditation in the United States. Some institutions with online programs hold national accreditation rather than regional accreditation because they are unwilling or unable to meet the rigorous standards of regional accreditation. Also, many educational institutions holding regional accreditation do not recognize credits or degrees earned at institutions that are nationally accredited. This is an important distinction if you plan on transferring credits from one college or university to another during your degree program, or if you plan to pursue additional degrees at different colleges or universities.
